Vampire Survivors Unveils Major Update 1.12 with Ode to Castlevania Crossover DLC

Vampire Survivors has released the full patch notes for its 1.12 update, which arrives alongside the highly anticipated Ode to Castlevania crossover DLC. This collaboration with Castlevania brings one of the most substantial updates to Poncle's hit indie game yet, featuring new characters, remixed songs from Konami’s iconic series, and exciting additions for players to explore.

Ode to Castlevania is the third crossover DLC for Vampire Survivors, following May's Operation Guns collaboration with the Contra series, which added fan-favorite Contra characters like Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, as well as explosive new weapons. In Castlevania’s case, the crossover includes over 20 characters, more than 40 weapons with evolutions, and 36 cover versions of classic Castlevania tracks, such as "Vampire Killer," "Bloody Tears," and "Requiem." The new Castlevania stage is Vampire Survivors’ largest map to date, with distinct biomes and collectible power-ups, although Poncle has mentioned that due to the expansion’s scope, an Adventure mode wasn’t included at launch but could be added in the future.

The patch and DLC together require a total download of 345 MB on Steam, with the Ode to Castlevania DLC itself taking up approximately 282 MB. Poncle has also confirmed that Vampire Survivors’ Switch version will receive an additional update in two weeks to resolve certain late-game issues.

Along with the Castlevania content, Patch 1.12 introduces new quality-of-life improvements, including an advanced music selection menu, map zoom functionality in the pause menu, and memory usage optimizations. Poncle also revealed that more free updates are planned as part of the Chaos Roadmap for 2024 and 2025.

The Ode to Castlevania crossover marks a long-awaited collaboration between Vampire Survivors and Castlevania, and fans are eager to see how this partnership might influence the future of both franchises.
