Bungie Releases Destiny 2 Update 8.0.0.5: Major Fixes and Improvements

Bungie has rolled out update 8.0.0.5 for Destiny 2, addressing numerous issues and incorporating changes requested by the community. Over recent months, Destiny 2 has seen a resurgence in popularity, bolstered by impactful updates and content additions like "Into The Light" and the "The Final Shape" expansion.

Despite the game's positive reception and growing player base, it hasn't been without flaws. One of the most significant changes in this update is to the Pathfinder system, which replaced daily and weekly bounties. Since its introduction with "The Final Shape," players have criticized the Ritual Pathfinder for its mixed nodes that forced activity switches, disrupting streak bonuses and presenting tedious or overly difficult objectives. With update 8.0.0.5, Bungie has tweaked the system, replacing Gambit-specific nodes with more general ones, allowing players to progress through either PvE or PvP activities.

Another major change in update 8.0.0.5 is the removal of elemental surges from Destiny 2 dungeons and raids. The launch of "The Final Shape" brought significant changes to difficulty and player power, negatively affecting dungeons and raids. Many players found these encounters more tedious and challenging than before. Bungie, responding to community feedback and hard data, decided to remove elemental surges entirely. Players will now receive a damage bonus by default across all subclass types.
