Pokemon Home mobile app users now have the chance to claim a free shiny Meloetta via Mystery Gift, provided they complete the full Pokedex for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and all associated DLCs. This exclusive offer for the mobile version of Pokemon Home hints that more rare Pokemon rewards may be on the horizon.

Launched in February 2020, Pokemon Home allows fans to trade Pokemon or transfer them between saves across various games in the series, including Pokemon GO. Available on Nintendo Switch and mobile, it succeeds the 3DS-era Pokemon Bank with cloud-based features for monster-catching fans.

An in-app announcement confirms that shiny Meloetta is just the first of several rare Pokemon rewards coming to Pokemon Home. Originally introduced in Generation 5 alongside other Mythical Pokemon like Victini, Keldeo, and Genesect, Meloetta’s shiny version transforms its usual pale green hair to aqua, and its eye and forehead colors are similarly reversed. To obtain this shiny Meloetta, players must complete the Paldea Pokedex for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, including the Kitakami and Blueberry Academy entries from the Indigo Disk DLC, then transfer all these Pokemon to Pokemon Home.

While achieving a shiny Meloetta may require a fair amount of gameplay for newcomers, it’s a reliable path to acquiring this rare Pokemon. While Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Coastal Biome in the Indigo Disk DLC offers a chance to encounter Meloetta, players face a complex process to catch it, including camera adjustments and listening for its song, but even then, it can’t appear as a shiny in-game—making this Mystery Gift all the more valuable.

Pokemon Home also offers other rare versions of Mythical Pokemon. By completing the National Pokedex up to entry 890, players can unlock Magearna in its original red, yellow, and white color scheme. Regarded as one of the franchise’s rarest Pokemon, obtaining this Magearna is an even greater challenge than earning shiny Meloetta.
